The Nili Fossae region is a top contender to be selected as the landing site for the next Mars rover, the Mars Science Laboratory mission, in 2010. This landscape recently fell under the sensitive eye of the Compact Reconnaissance Imaging Spectrometer for Mars (CRISM), which made these maps of the region’s mineralogy.
