The biggest event of my bicycling career is happening this summer! This mega event is called the “Across America North Tour”! That’s right, I am bicycling from Sea to Shining Sea, 3600 miles across America! I’m riding with 50 others from all across the USA from Astoria, OR, to Portsmouth, NH, June 21st through August 9th of 2009. The “Across America North Tour” is organized by “America By Bicycle” (ABB) is a great bicycle touring company. “The Across America Ride” will take us from Astoria, Oregon, to Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 50 days, averaging 80 miles per day. Although this ride is not a fund raiser, I have been involved in fundraising every step of the way leading up to this ride. My cause is the the “The American Lung Association”. As of June I have reached my goal and collected $2,500 for them! I chose the Lung Association as they support a very worthy concept, clean air. I have supported the Lung Association many times in the past, especially during by 7 BAMMI rides in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Life is full of surprises and new challenges.
