The storyline is set somewhere in northern Europe at the pinnacle of the High Middle Ages. The tale draws inspiration from the culture of the day. Society is divided into the traditional triumvirate of the Nobility, the Clergy, and the Peasantry ( ...those who fight, those who pray, and those who work), but also includes the influence of the new middle class, represented by the chartered cities, and the growing power of the guilds. Through this authentic setting, author Ron Patterson seeks to relate to the reader the higher themes of literature; human frailty, redemption, and the ultimate victory of Good over Evil.
