Charing Cross Underground

Originally, Episode 7 was going to be shot at Paddington railway station. But when we went to scout the area, it was stuffed so full with cafes, restaurants and shops that it was hard to imagine how we’d film anything without DE looking like an advert for Pret A Manger.

A quick rewrite later, and our producer Jane Hughes came up with the idea of shooting at Charing Cross Underground station, on a disused platform which used to service the Jubilee line.

We had a few technical problems today with jib arms and track, and also some technical issues with the presenter, who had to walk up the station stairs several times during the final shot, and suddenly felt his age while doing the third, slightly wheezy, take.

However, it looks terrific, and it sits very nicely with our theme of anxiety (Philippians 4:2-9).
