Barrett and I are not spontaneous people. We never have been, and we are especially not now with the boys.
Mom called Thursday night around 9 to say that they were going to the Martina McBride, Jack Ingram concert on Friday night. She said that they could probably get some tickets for us if we wanted them to. We had to find someone to watch the boys before we could commit to it. That shouldn’t be too hard in less than 24 hours, right?
Our babysitter was working and so was Barrett’s sister and her husband. It was too late for them to switch shifts. Finally around 3:00 on Friday afternoon we got in touch with our wonderful friends who said they would be happy to have to boys come and spend the night (even though they were going to be packing to go out of town Saturday). I didn’t feel right having the boys stay when they were trying to get ready to go out of town, but they insisted that it would actually help them out because it would keep their kids entertained. I finally decided to take them up on it. Great! Now let’s see if we can still get those tickets.
By 4:30 we had everything arranged and tickets to the show. The concert started at 7:30 so we were taking our time packing and dropped the boys off. We stopped by to grab a sandwich at our local Subway shop on the way to the concert. At 6:30 my phone rang. It was my mom saying they had meet & greet passes for Jack and it was at 7:00. We quickly took a few more bites and jumped in the car.
Thankfully, the Friday night traffic gods were kind to us, and we made it in time. We had an unbelievable time and will have a separate entry for the concert because there was lots to talk about.
I’m sure for spontaneous people, this would have been no problem at all, but for this anal planner it was a little stressful. Even thought it was a little crazy, I’m so glad we did it!
