Play Submission Guidelines
Include Only TWO Copies Of Your Play(s)
There Are NO Restrictions On Content
We will NOT disregard plays with strong language, violence, nudity or mature themes.
Nor do we require those aspects. Just tell us a good STORY.
It Doesn't Matter If Your Work Has -- Or Has Never -- Been Produced Before, or if, in fact, you have ever written a play before!
Submission Formats For Plays:
Standard Typed Playscript Format Or Any Similar Approach
Scripts Will No Longer Be Returned
Please Do NOT include a large manila SASE, as all scripts will either be kept on file, or recycled, but not mailed back.
Include A Standard SASE For The Critiques.
One self-addressed, stamped standard envelope (SASE) for each play, please. If there is no SASE, no evaluations will be sent, and you will only be contacted if your work is selected.
Include The Proper Evaluation Fee For Your Play(s). The critique fees for submissions are as follows:
SHORT SHORTS: Up to 20 pages = $15
ONE ACT PLAYS: 21 to 40 pages = $20
41 to 60 pages = $25
FULL-LENGTH PLAYS: 61 to 80 pages = $30
81 to 100 pages = $35
101 to 120 pages = $40
- Plays longer than 120 pages are not accepted at this time
- The length of your work is noticed, please include the proper fee
- Please do not send compilations of plays (one-act collections) as a full-length
If the proper fee is not included, your script(s) will be recycled. All plays go through the same evaluation process. And, as a completely volunteer nonprofit artists’ cooperative, the theatre relies on all income (critique fees, donations, ticket sales, etc.) for the ongoing production of new work and theatre operating expenses.
Include A Brief Cover Letter Telling A Bit About Your Work & Yourself
Please Bind Or Staple Your Script(s) Securely
Don't Forget To Put Your Name & Contact Info On The Scripts.
You would be surprised how many neglect this.
Submit As Many Plays As You Wish
Just make sure to include the appropriate fee for each, and a standard stamped envelope for replies/evaluations.
Meet The Annual Deadline
We accept all scripts year-round!
However, if you wish your short play(s) to be considered for the current year's "Six 15s @ Eight" New Plays Festival (up to 20 page plays only), make sure your work is postmarked no later than June 30 each year.
Please Be Patient
Selecting plays can take six months to a year, depending on the
time of year, the theater's workload and the number of scripts received.
Though very rare, if you haven't received a congratulatory call or email, or your evaluations by mail within that time frame, please feel free to drop us an email.
