Stress

It isn’t big and it isn’t clever. It’s not much fun either.

Most people thrive and need a bit of stress - that positive eu-tress that gets us going, motivates or jollies us along.

Sometimes however the balance is lost and illness, anxieties or erratic behaviour occur. We commonly refer to this as distress.

Those who are affected negatively by stress may turn to alcohol or drugs which it turn aggravate their situation.

Stress problems can arise if we are not able to slow it down, switch it off or harness it productively. If we are always in a state of 'anxious readiness' it is detrimental mentally and physically.

Short term symptoms can include:

    * Anxieties

    * Headaches

    * Tensions

    * Lethargy

    * Insomnia

    * IBS

    * Digestive problems

    * Eating disorders

    * Mood swings

    * Alcohol abuse

    * Smoking or other drugs

    * Aggression

    * Confusion

    * Lack of concentration

    * Memory loss

    * Sexual problems

Long term symptoms can include:

    * Heart problems

    * Ulcers

    * Cancers

    * Strokes

    * Complete mental or physical breakdown

    * Death

If we put in place ‘time for us’ that includes techniques to reduce the symptoms of stress the changes in our health and well-being are immediate. If you learn meditative self-hypnosis it is perhaps the most powerful tool ever to beat the negative damaging effects of stress.

In a company or sporting environment stress can cause enough damage to break it down. In any team; business or sport, it only takes one stress suffering member to harm the whole lot. If several team members or staff are having problems it does not bode well. Productivity and performance falls and sickness rates rise.

The end results may well be loss of money ~ not good!

If a workable stress reduction plan is in place the majority of problems are nipped in the bud before they get chance to harm.

It is not necessary to wait for problems before taking action - choose prevention in favour of reaction.
