Day Five: Home Again, Home Again, Jiggety Jig!
Day Five: Home Again, Home Again, Jiggety Jig!

Sunday came and our party ended. Yeay!! (Did I say that? Shoot me.)
Mom used to say that Alex gives you children when you’re young so you can keep up with them. How she managed to raise 13 children and still remain vertical is a mystery to me. She took the Sabbath Day seriously — maybe that had something to do with it.
I hauled Sam to church with me. She was not especially enthusiastic about the idea but she didn’t have a choice. I wish she went to church and to Sunday School in her home town and I now have a better appreciation of my mother’s concern for her grandchildren’s religious education. If nothing else, I think the children who go to Sunday school learn that Frosty the Snowman is not a Christmas carol. And they learn proper deportment for Sunday worship services. Mostly. I made a critical error when we seated ourselves in the sanctuary. I should have had her sit on the opposite side of me than she did. Another family sat in the same pew and Sam and her new acquaintance were a little too chatty for my comfort. Oy.
We left for Hinckley, the halfway point between us and Duluth, around 10:30 a.m., I think. Our agreement was that we would meet at Tobie’s a well known restaurant there, have lunch, and send La Twerp home with her mom.
She’s her momma’s girl through and through and was thrilled to see her mom again. Becky had a well-deserved weekend break from mom duty, Rob and I had fun, if tiring, time with LaTwerp, and all’s well in the world. I think Sam had fun, too.
Rob is looking forward to having her visit this summer so he can take her golfing. Hooboy!
