Sooner or later New Technology affects you

It’s ironic.   My newest passion is to learn everything I can about IPTV.  I love technology and get excited by new innovations. What’s ironic is that I live in the country, in the foothills, surrounded by trees, and acreage and I don’t get cable, dsl, and have problems even receiving satellite on a windy day.  There’s no cell reception at my house, in fact every other mile it cuts out.  And nothing will be changing soon.  When your parcels are over an acre minimum, the companies just don’t want to run cable... And buying all the services separately is quite costly.

Most people who live in my county enjoy the outdoors-- from snow-shoeing and skiing to kayaking and cycling.  I often hear from my neighbors who don’t care about TV, or that they have 3 fuzzy stations (at best) that they receive by antenna from the lowlands 100 miles away.  I’m an anomaly, an odd ball often feeling judged for loving my home theater and getting excited about my weekly fix of “Heroes.”  (I’m a triathlete so it’s not that I sit in front of the tube all day.)

And it’s taking a long time to get to my point today (the problem with blogging after midnight).  It’s a real benefit for what I do that I live where I do.  Very few early adopters here.  Just regular folk who let me know everyday that they don’t understand all the tech that’s coming at them.  I see the need all around me to get the news to people who are only peripherally involved with home entertainment.

It’s a contrast from CES and the other world I live in.  And it is my ultimate joy to be the bridge between the two.

You can barely get satellite through these trees.
(this is last year...no snow this year yet...)
