About Relative Newz Relative Newz is an alternative, non-corporate, independent media site. Here you’ll find podcasts of shows originally broadcast at CFUV radio from Victoria BC. There are also peace and justice events listings for Victoria, Vancouver, and Edmonton. And the Victoria Street Newz archives are housed here. Short videos are posted to the ‘bandcroft’ account at You Tube. About Street Newz Since 2004, Street Newz has provided a dignified way for low-income people to earn a few extra dollars, and participate in the local economy. It’s also an opportunity for their stories to be told. It’s printed on 100% post consumer recycled newsprint, and focussed on the root causes and effects of poverty, homelessness, and environmental degradation. Street Newz depends on writers, poets, and photographers to contribute their submissions for publishing. Each month offers a unique collection of individuals’ thoughts and opinions, entirely autonomous and unregulated. Of course we won’t print anything promoting any form of hatred - no racism, sexism, or homophobia - but we’re proud to offer a real alternative to the corporate media.
