Robbi K & Friends

Song Writing 101

The creative process of song writing can be applied to learning and reinforcing a variety of subjects, concepts, and information. Students work with Robbi K & musicians to learn the 4 S's of song writing - subject, structure, style, & song.

Encouraging students to improvise, compose & perform; developing poems, ideas, & rhymes that are set to music, recorded & duplicated onto CD facilitates a memorable learning experience.

It's recommended that each class have a minimum two sessions. As per the chosen topic decided upon in a planning session w/teacher(s) and Robbi, students co-write verses and choruses, pick musical styles, arrange the words and music, rehearse, record, and if time permits, present a final performance of the songs.

This programs varies to make curriculum connections, and is recommend for grades 1 - 10.

The final results includes inspired and expressive students, interesting songs, an introduction to writing and performing original music, and an improved sense of school community for all involved.

Remember - this is creative arts and no subject is impossible to write a song about.  In a day and age where so much of what children do is electronic - why not incorporate writing, thinking, imagining, and technology together?!
