I honor of my daughter’s baptism I made her a Baptismal Braeu Koelsch. Everything went super well during the brew. I mashed in and hit a fine rest temp. The sparge was great. I got over 6 gallons into the boil kettle and recorded a fine pre-boil gravity.
After a vigorous boil I ended up with the expected volume but a much higher gravity. I still don’t totally get how to best get a pre-boil gravity match up with the expected end of boil gravity. To make the beer match style I went ahead and added a half gallon of water.
Hopefully everything turns out.
