The Axminster Woodturners' Club provides its members the opportunity to learn and exchange ideas on all aspects of woodturning. We offer a range of demonstrations using the expertise of members as well as 'Master classes' led by many of the countries leading turners and wood artists. One of the most popular activities is when we have hands-on sessions, during which members work in groups to produce an item or practice techniques.
We also offer 'surgery' sessions where individuals can have one-to one tuition.
Less experienced members are encouraged to visit the workshop of a more experienced member near to their home for help. The Club is a member of the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain (AWGB).
The Club meets on the first Saturday in the month at
10.00 am, finishing at approximately 1.00 pm. Sessions with outside demonstrators tend to be all-day.
The Club has recently contributed to the APT Open days, offering turning and decorating sessions over the two days. Members have also showed and successfully sold work at an Arts Festival in the town.
