Carrying Turning Tools : When you need to carry your turning tools away from your workshop, in order to avoid damage to them or harm to yourself or others, carry them in foam pipe insulation. Cut the insulation slightly longer than the length of the blade and fasten a cable tie at the handle end to hold it in place. George Webb

Sharpening : If you sharpen all your gouges before starting turning using a jig on a Tormek, workout before hand which tool you likely to re-sharpen first and sharpen that last, the jig will still be set up ready.

Applying Wax : Use a toothbrush to apply wax to a textured surface instead of a cloth which will leave bits behind. It will also give your teeth a nice shine afterwards.

Chinese Lathe Trays : Chinese takeaway trays make great trays for putting bits in whilst on the lathe.
