Photography is about telling stories.  Capturing a moment that asks the question:  what happened before and what happens next. 

People seem to think working with me is fun. I don't fuss with lights, don't waste a lot of time on ego-driven perfectionism. Maybe that's why. I slap up a background, decide whether the lighting should be hard or soft and hang a few appropriate strobes. Then I put some weird ideas in the model's head so he or she will have something to think about and won't look stupid or vacant. Then I start snapping away and hope the camera settings are about right.

Spontaneity and fun rule at my shoots. After all, 90% of the pictures are going to be shit no matter what we do. So we relax and hope for the best with the other 10%.

But don't tell anybody it's as easy as it is. Because models are supposed to think I'm a friggin' genius. Confidence is where it's at. No confidence, no picture. So I keep faking it and pretending that I know what I'm doing and hope for the best. Confidence at all times dripping from every pore and communicating itself to the people on the other side of the lens.

OK... so now you know how I work. What I accomplish with this lazy go-for-broke attitude can be seen on the next few pages. I leave it up to you to decide if it's worth it.
