The 1st Graders at FHCDS create and improvise songs on the Orfs instruments, create podcasts to reinforce music learned in class, create songs with software that reinforces musical concepts, and record their own concert and play songs to reinforce pitch, lyrics, and memorization skills. The 1st grade music curriculum utilizes and achieves the K-4 MENC National Standards, which include, singing, performing on instruments, improvising, composing, listening and analyzing music, relating music to music history, and moving to and studying world music.
