When I did this interview with Dr Gordon I went down the outline of the book I am writing...so I just pulled the excerpts that corresponded...

Why does Almost Everything work…for some kids…for a while? Our children are immuno-compromised & in toxic overload…This causes the inability to digest food…ALMOST everything we need comes from the digestion of food…ALMOST ANYTHING you supplement has a high probability of being something your child is deficient in…Every introduction of a single “nutrient” will probably change the location of the break in the “chain” & result in temporary relief of a specific symptom or symptoms.. This can be a sustainable shift if the immune system hits a “tipping point” away from CHAOS & toward ORDER. But what is far more likely is the eventual shift to feeding the pathogens more than the cycle and the body mounting an immune response to this new “foreign invader” (either the nutrient itself or the newly created excessive metabolite from the new location of the break in the chain , or the extra debris being produced by the newly fortified pathogens). I know that entire section was way past where we have gotten in the FAQ’s…but just consider it foreshadowing for now & Take Away: All oral supplements should be given on a “role specific” basis with a complete appreciation for the “cascade” they create & It makes sense to kill parasites prior to oral nutrients (& avoiding oral as much as possible) “pulsing” & “micro” dosing of nutrients attractive.

This was originally presented in section (105), but then after a gazillion proof reads I realized it had to be at the beginning! This section is really a tool you will use once you are ready to prioritize, but was presented early because of necessity!

I have no idea who coined or originated the phrase or concept. Basically, it should be used with all interventions in Autism.

1.) $$$ …we know there are tons of those involved… but also:
2.) Stress on the entire family
3.) Energy to implement
4.) Risk or potential downside including all observed side effects
5.) Time to understand it, get it, buy it & use it (I hope this book helps)
6.) How easily accessible (given your families limitations) an intervention is
7.) All the other stuff I can’t think of right now associated with it

…compared to the potential, including both probable & possible, positive outcome(s). This simply helps you weed through all the possibilities & make a wise choice based on YOUR specific situation!

For example a family with: No Doctor, No Whole Foods, internet access, $500 month in available credit, who live in the outback of Australia would have a protocol based on this equation & it would look very different from the family with…no extra money, no other children but limitless support from family & access to organic food.

Often times the best way to make educated decisions on this is to do many “trials” of different things individually over time. Energy Testing (Ap 107) can narrow the field of options substantially. My experience suggests it is difficult to see the true “cost” & true “benefit” of an intervention without a trial.

When you add all of the burden/cost together & compare them to any potential up side you make an educated choice. See Free Things (Appendix 4) for some stuff when $$$'s are the biggest limitation!
