Fresh from the Ground
On Saturday 9th February we were singing again. Getano brought along his new version of ‘We Can Be Strong’ and we loved it. Then out of a joke about traditional Indigenous foods came a discussion about market gardens, Italian farms, Tongan traditional cooking and simply what was good to eat.
I think we’ve still got some work to do on Fresh from the Ground our singing is still a little rough and I suspect some new words will flow but it was some creative magic happening at the Elders Centre as we created a new song. The cultural sharing was wonderful - language, stories, songs, energy and an enthusiasm for country and place.
So ‘watch this space’ this is a song that is going to grow.

We enjoyed creating and singing a new song about Inala so much we went up to the Plaza at lunch time and shared lunch.
‘Fresh from the ground,
Fresh from the vine,
It’s good for the body,
It’s good for the mind.’
