Meet the Artist...
Melissa Gurney remains an avid Artist, having produced several Art Exhibitions of her work and others, with sales extending internationally. Adopting a diversified life course throughout many varied career options, she continues her creative journey learning & developing lateral skills in many key areas of interest, not just limited to her designing...
Recently, Melissa completed 8 months Forensic Fieldwork Placement with Victoria Police Homicide Squad, undertaken as a core component of her Masters of Criminology (Forensic Psychology) Degree, at The University of Melbourne. Her specialist area is Criminal Offender Behavioral Analysis, having been taught by and worked alongside an FBI trained Profiler & experienced opportunities utilizing these Profiling techniques within this professional arena.
Martial Arts trained in Tae Kwon Do, Melissa is currently grading for her Black Belt in early 2008. She will then (some might say), be a force to be reckoned with!
Gaining Professional Degrees in Design & Advertising, Melissa is also a Registered Nurse, having worked extensively in both industries (RN in hospitals and Art Director of Ad-Agencies). Delving occasionally into the world of Film & TV, Melissa has studied Professional Acting, Theatre Arts & Screenplay Writing, at Curtin University of Technology, & WA Academy of Performing Arts; being involved in several feature films & TV Series on the East Coast.
Quietly unassuming and with subtle determination, she goes about her private business with an undeterred ease of integrity. Many who know her comment that often reserved, Melissa never reveals the full extent of her character. Stating her most significant achievement as motherhood which, “enhances profound influences over my life constantly”, professionally Melissa describes herself as, “a Jill of all trades - a mistress of none !”. I beg to differ, finding her tenacity to master most of everything she involves herself with, most impressive and enviable amongst others.
