      <description>During my recent sabbatical leave, I had the opportunity to continue research into the aftermath of the devastating Indian Ocean tsunami. The Phi Phi Islands are about 25 miles off the coast of Thailand. Ton Sai Beach on Phi Phi Don was destroyed by the tsunami as it entered the bay from two directions. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;A more responsible rebuilding has commenced at Ton Sai Beach and 4 years after its destruction, it has once again become a popular tourist destination.</description>

The highest level ever recorded was 15.80’ on July 2, 1983; therefore, this was a historic flood. The following photos were taken about 2 hours past the crest. We filmed this at the tennis courts on the campus of Northern Illinois University.</description>
