Wisconsin School of Business and Harvard University are two schools that have recently put forth plans to require undergraduate students to participate in a study abroad. The MHR department in WSB has been the first to offer such for-credit class
in Spring of 07 and 09. The next class is offered in Spring 2010. Due to high student demand, and class enrollment limit of 20 students, pre-registration list is open now. For more information, please email Alex (professor teaching this class).
This cross-cultural leadership class is envisioned as both classroom discussion and a study trip to China (Beijing and Shanghai). The course meets before the trip to study business and cultural aspects of China, with emphasis on cross-cultural leadership in/of Chinese firms. Final projects regarding lessons learned, and related presentations follow the trip. This class/trip was highly sought out and successful in the past . See the 2010 promotional flyer below for comments from students in previous two classes, and more information about the class and trip.

2007 class at the unfinished Bird’s Nest
This photo of our 2007 class was taken in March of 2007, inside the Bird’s Nest Olympic stadium. At that time (about 17 months prior to the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2008 Olympics) this famous stadium was still in construction. Being able to take a peek from the inside during construction was an unforgettable (and rare) experience for all of us.
