So I went to the Flea-market for the first time in my life, and let me tell you....it was an experience! I had hoped that every little stand would have beautiful shoes, bags, and jewelry for $2. We found one stand that had dresses from J.Crew, Gap, Anne Taylor, etc. It was a diamond in the rough. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t care that not every place was of use to me. I don’t know how the man found the stuff but it was pretty nice. He did have one heinous and I do mean heinous dress that he kept trying to sell us. It had awful fabric, horrible cut, and was super short. He kept saying 50% off, 50% off. At one point he was standing behind us whispering 50% off( I don’t think that he realized that he was actually saying it). It was fun just walking around and looking at things and people. I saw a sign for a pet shop and was so excited to see puppies; I guess pets, doesn’t mean an assortment of animals. For some reason there were only of birds for sale...everywhere.
My favorite place was this old building with tons of neat furniture in it. I picked up a picture frame that looked nice ( not super great, but nice). It had a tag on it that said 98. I asked the man if it was $0.98; he said no. I asked him if it was $98; he said no. It turns out that it was #98 for an auction. I tried to use my feminine wiles to sway him into letting me buy it on the spot. Evidently the humidity threw my wiles out of whack, I left without a picture frame.
My favorite part. There was karaoke- in the middle of the day! I thought it was great. I didn’t have enough courage to get up there though. I think there is a reason why karaoke is done at night, in a dark bar. They lady singing didn’t seem to care, and she was pretty good too.
Things you can find at the Flea-Market:
$10 haircut, batteries, shoes (no promise of quality), produce, fake plants, parrots, and lots of socks- go figure.
