This is the band Ashby was in (No Early Closure) that made it’s pilgrimage to NYC 20 years ago this spring. The song features Ashby as the writer/vocalist and has some pretty good guitar playing for a 22 year old with a full head of hair. The song is based on the classic film Lonely Are The Brave starring Kirk Douglas, Carol O’Connor and George Kennedy. You are listening to an original song by the legendary Chris Crowe. Chris was a long time member of the Medallions and the author of quite a few original songs. The still popular “I’d Be Shaggin” is one of his originals also. Ashby and Chris recorded and produced this song in the early part of this decade. Ashby is singing in the verse and chorus and Chris handles the rest.

Shawn McElrath: Here With Me

Shawn is the oldest son of founding member John McElrath. His primary instrument is the tenor sax but he also plays the bass, keys and flute with the Medallions as well. Shawn’s original song is synced up to a video he and his brother shot in the Lesser Antilles on a sailing trip they take every year. John, Shawn and Shane run the band and keep the Swingin’ Medallion tradition alive.
