Ways to Help

Financial Contributions: It would take about $65,000 to run our program in South Africa for an entire year. That is just $100 per student, a fraction of the cost of similar New York City art programs. Until we raise this amount, ArtWorks for Youth will operate the program once or twice a year for a month at a time. To make on online pledge, send us an e-mail with the amount you can can give and we will get back to you. Or just write us with a check or money order at the address below.

Ways to Help

Frequent Flier Miles: Airfare would be a large part of our budget if we weren’t so fortunate to have individuals donate their frequent flier miles for all but one of our trips thus far. We are then able to travel more often and use contributions for direct service to our students. Please let us know if we can add you to our future flying plans. We try to get to Africa in March and August each year.

Gifts-in-Kind: Another large expense is printing. We send three separate mailings a year. Each mailing costs us about $1,000. If you know anyone who can offer free or discounted printing, we can add that savings to supplies and other services to our students. We could also use supplies for the classes: pencils, papers, paint sets, film, and digital cameras to document our work.

Volunteers: We could use help with grant writing, research in funding, mailings, and simply spreading the word about our work. If you are not able to support us financially, perhaps you can let people know about us or help us with the daily work necessary to offer our students free art instruction.

Sponsor a student: You can opt to sponsor a student for a year for the cost of $100. You will receive a photograph of the child you sponsor as well as some information about him or her. You will also learn about other ways you might choose to support the student within and outside of the art program.

Are you an artist? We have a fundraiser/exhibition every year and we are asking artists to donate a work that will be auctioned off at the event. This year’s took place on Saturday, November 3rd. Our art auction earned us about $3,000 this year. We are are hoping to earn twice that next year. If you are interested, please be in touch.
