Our work began in New York City in May, 2000 and we have since worked with hundreds of students through collaborations with schools and service organizations in New York City.

We learned of a school in South Africa through a collaboration with Frederick Douglass Academy II in Harlem.  FDAII students were engaged in a cultural exchange with students at the Sivuyiseni School in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.  Our first trip to Africa was in March, 2003.  We have since travelled to South Africa eight more times.

ArtWorks for Youth now works exclusively in South Africa.  We recently began trips to South Africa about every four months: two weeks in both March and December, and the full month of August.  It is our hope to begin offering free art instruction to our students in South Africa on a year-round basis.

Please take some time to view the work of our students and learn more about our program.  Let us know if you have any questions please.
