The World War II Memorial is beautifully situated between the Washington and Lincoln Monuments. Its central feature is the fountain, which is graceful and harmonizing. The circle of steles, like gravestones, give the monument a solemn air and the wreaths look very military. Critics have aesthetic concerns, but I asked several people, both locals and tourists, and everyone found it “impressive, very impressive.”
