The Noguchi Museum, a garden and museum designed by Isamu Noguchi for his own works, is located in a former industrial section of Long Island, across from his own modest home and near a large stoneworks. Surrounded by a high stone wall and plantings, the garden is an island of peaceful contemplation. The museum shows his works over a wide span of time and using many different materials. I was amazed that the same boulder could have different colors and textures, depending on how it was treated.
