It was the second time we stayed at the Fairview. This has to be one of the most pleasant hotels in which we have stayed. The meals are excellent and the accommodations very adequate. The grounds are well tended with wonderful gardens. There is a fine pool as well as several new dining rooms. In some ways it was an “Out of Africa” experience reminiscent of the early or mid 20th century.

One note on the location. Bishops Road is in a neighborhood of governmental offices and embassies. I inquired about the high walls and barbed wire at the property across the road. “That is the Israeli Embassy” I was informed. Now that leads one to ponder. Is this A. the safest point in all of Nairobi given it’s guards and check points or B. the most dangerous in this Christian/Muslim country where the United States Embassy was blown up by terrorists several years ago. I opt for the former, A. We have never had a hint of danger staying at this wonderful hotel.
