When you travel to Europe, do you feel that you absolutely need to make sure that you don’t miss this museum, or that cathedral? I know that we do from time to time, but we have found that the things that make our trips the most enjoyable are the times when we just are.Touring the city of Bruges on a bicycle is one of the best ways to see the city. Pedaling the cobbled streets, the bike roads along the perimeter of the city, stopping for a cold one at your favorite new cafe, bistro, or bar, it’s all great.

          Don’t miss visiting Brugge.

Travel tip: Don’t try to cram too much in.  Stay.  Linger awhile.  Places like Brugge, or if you prefer, Bruges, are more than museums and cathedrals.  Enjoy just being!

Our stay in Bruges lasted only three days, but in that time we fell head over heels in love with it.  The old city has a quiet charm that leaves you wanting more.  We will return.

As we walked and biked the narrow one way streets, we were inspired over and over again by the remarkable old buildings, the narrow canals, and the many bridges crossing them.

Jodi absolutely fell in love with the old style signs throughout Europe, and Bruges was no exception.  Not seeing garish McDonald’s or Burger King signs at every turn as you do in some places is so refreshing.

One of the things that our non-traveling friends and family always ask is about communicating with people.  They have a quiet fear that they won’t be able to talk to anyone.  Well, in the northern European countries, we have found that most people speak english so well that there has never been an issue.
