Goose Island Reserve Bourbon County Stout
An American Double Stout from Goose Island, Chicago.
BCS was first brewed in 1994 in celebration of Goose Island's 1000th batch at its original Brewpub. The mash uses huge quantities of malt, and, after fermentation, the stout is aged for 100 days in bourbon barrels. Greg Hall, Goose Island's Brewmaster calls it a "glorious stout ... a liquid as dark and dense as a black hole with thick foam the color of a bourbon barrel. The nose is an intense mix of charred oak, chocolate, vanilla, caramel and smoke. One sip has more flavor than your average case of beer."
