April Leslie is a Southern California-based musician, woodwind coach, and private lesson instructor with a Masters degree in Clarinet Performance. Her experience and unique talents have allowed her to travel the world combining her love for music, performing, and teaching.
Currently, April is a freelance clarinetist, recording artist, and woodwind coach in San Diego and Los Angeles. She is thrilled to be performing with such diverse groups as the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Nova, San Diego Classics Philharmonic, California Chamber Orchestra, San Diego Wind Symphony, Starlight Theater, and the Lawrence Welk band.
April is the featured clarinet/alto clarinet instructor for the new Traditions of Excellence DVD series available in the Spring, 2011. Be sure to check it out!
In 2009, she toured with Michael Bolton’s band playing saxophone, flute and backup vocals.
April completed her Master of Music at APU in clarinet performance (with a full-ride music scholarship). She has studied with several great clarinetists, including Frank & Sheryl Renk, Gary Gray and Kenneth Grant.
From 2002-2006 April was honored to have been the Original Clarinet Soloist in the off-Broadway musical, Blast II. The role was specifically created around her talents, combining instrumental and electronic music with dance, theatrics and movement. April enjoyed a US tour, a stint at the Queens Theater in London, and a Japan tour.
During the summer of 2005, April played principal clarinet with the Monterrey, Mexico Symphony Orchestra for their final summer concert series.
