in search of MACUNAÍMA
This is a personal site aimed at sharing my discoveries in pursuing Dende Collective, current project THE MACUNAÍMA CYCLE, which aims adapting to the stage the Brazilian novel Macunaíma by Mário de Andrade. I am writing this primarily to share some of my thoughts with other artists that I am working with at the moment: Montse Gili (also in Dende Collective), Noel Greig who we have been in conversations with and we would like to involve as a writer/ dramaturg in the project and Samuel Guimarães, a Brazilian visual artist who will be responsible for the visual side of the project (he lives in Brazil). We aim at presenting the show in the Autumn 2008 in London. This site is nevertheless open to anyone who would like to know how Dende makes work and how my thoughts, doubts, ideas, etc... evolve in the genesis of MACUNAíMA.
I started the work on this site just prior to R&D5 @ Oval House Theatre’s First Bites Season (Dec 3rd to 8th 2007).
