DMA Wins Fulbright, ICA Competition and Embarks on Int'l Performance Career

Boja Kragulj plays Mozart

Boja Kragulj, who completed her DMA degree at UNCG this spring, is the 2011 winner of the International Clarinet Association research competition award and was also named as a Fulbright Scholar. The recognition from ICA includes a cash award and an opportunity to publish her work, and the Fulbright award comes with funding for her continued research in Turkey about Turkish clarinet music. Since her graduation, she has also been performing with some of Russia's best string quartets and string orchestras, pictured here after a performance of the Mozart Clarinet Quintet. Before graduating she also won the University-wide teaching assistant award at UNCG in the spring, after serving UNCG for three years in the clarinet studio and music theory areas.

About her recent Mozart performance, the reviewer wrote glowingly:

"…Kragulj brings a beautiful palette of tone colour to the clarinet…a rare wind performer who knows how to create the perfect layering of wind and strings…" [translation Chas Pik]
