White Night Festival

24th October 2009

Programme here.

This year’s citywide White Night Festival theme was “Fortune”. Last year feedback was that our Phoenix event was a cross between “Berlin in the 1930’s” and “Andy Warhol’s Factory in New York” so you can imagine it was a wild night. This year we leaunched an even bigger programme of performances and music events. In collaboration with Playgroup. The event featured: Institute of Unnecessary Research, Spirit of Gravity, Beatabet Collective, The Brighton Salon, Anna Dumitriu, Ingrid Plum, Timothy Didymus, Luciana Haill, John Holder, Dave Lawrence, Gordana Novakovic, Lisa Flynn, Art Clay (Switzerland), SnowKrash (Barry L Roshto and Ursel Quint) (Gemany), Madame Ivana’s Love and Oyster Bar, Ian Helliwell, Fred Monnoye (Switzerland) and Hilde Fuchs (Austria).

We also offered an extension of our late night talks programme organised by The Institute of Unnecessary Research with talks scheduled from 7pm until 3am featuring The Institute of Unnecessary Research: Anna Dumitriu, Hilde Fuchs, Gordana Novakovic, Blay Whitby, Dave LawrenceRichard RobinsonLuciana Haill, Monia Brizzi, Theresa Sundt and Simon Park plus independent speakers: Art Clay, Etan Ifield, Tobie Kerridge, Barry L Roshto, Harry Witchell and The Brighton Salon,

This huge event took place across two close venues: Phoenix Brighton and The Ocean Rooms.

This year’s event also hosted an international artist’s residency by Vienna based performance artist Hilde Fuchs.

Thanks to all who attended and those who made it possible.
