ANIMAL BEHAVIOR FIELD STUDY Troop 41 The black bears were interesting to observe. Most of the time they ate or looked for food to eat, but occasionally they would play with each other. I enjoyed finding out about the black bear’s ways of life.
Most of the time, the bears ate oranges. The bears would only move if they were going to find another orange peal. Also, when they finished eating, they went to bed and did not move unless we were making loud sounds. Shhhhh, the bears will hear us.
Ursula, the oldest bear, took her time making her hay bed. Afterwards, she would rest and adjust her bed some more. She didn’t look for food or walk around like Mimi and Gus did. Ursula eventually fell asleep while everyone was watching her on camera. Everyone watched her make her bed and rest in the hay. Ursula, a very interesting female, did not move around a lot.
When we were observing the bears, we never got to see Virginia. We think that she was sleeping off view of the camera. We hope to find out more about the interesting lives of black bears. we also hope to become wild life biologists.
