Red wolves are very interesting animals. Their diet consists of small mammals, large mammals, and insects. They are endangered in the state of North Carolina, but are coming back. 
The reason they are called red wolves is because they they have more red in color than any other species of wolves. Wolves are relatives of dogs, and they are both canines.
