ANDREW FLINT

2008

I was born in 1961 and have had a long and varied creative career. In 2006 I decided to spend more of my time working in ways that I enjoy. I decided to revisit ceramics, the subject that first took me on a creative career path.

Initially I remade the types of work I had made 20 years before and struggled to find my own voice and direction. Eventually, simply through making objects for practise and pleasure I discovered a path for my work that I am finding both stimulating and challenging,

I am producing forms that are purely sculptural. I use life drawing as my inspiration. The forms are not intended to reproduce the human figure but they are intended to echo the body’s subtly sensuous nature.

Having produced the first works shown here I am now attempting forms which are as tall as people. I feel the increase in scale will allow the pieces to have a strong but complimentary presence within human scale environments.

Introduction

I have always admired a wide range of artists and crafts people and taken great pleasure in experiencing the work they produce. I simply aim to produce work of a high enough standard that it might one day stand alongside the works that I have admired.
