Andrew’s Blog

I was in Panama from October 8th through the 18th for MTW’s Latin American Retreat.  It was a very nice change of pace from life in Cusco.  We stayed at an extremely nice “all-inclusive” resort on the beach.

It was really great to be able to catch up with and meet many different missionaries serving in Latin America.  God reenergized me as well through many different talks and times of worship.  I now feel ready to face the new changes occurring in Cusco.

So the changes:  The mission intends to sell most of its property in Pallpanccay (excluding the training center) to the Mennonites so they can build a new school there.  This is sad, but the property was not being used as originally intended.  The mission and church hope to use the sale to expand the ministry in San Jeronimo and to rebuild the Josephine House elsewhere.  However, that puts me out of my room in the Josephine House.

So I have rented an apartment in San Jeronimo and will be moving in this week.  My ministry focus will change to San Jeronimo and working more directly with the church.  There are also a number of guys that I hope to disciple closely in San Jeronimo.

We are also changing the format of the youth club.  The focus will be shifting to discipleship through ministry and outreach.  We will be doing things like raising money for trips to villages and making evangelical and encouraging visits to the local hospitals.  This will hopefully encourage a missions mindset in the youth.

Please pray for all the changes that are occurring with me and my ministry!

Panama and Some Changes
