Peter Heus opened Enchanter’s Garden in 1994. His vast experience with plants began in the 70’s when he purchased an old homestead near the historic railroad town of Hinton, WV. Upon his arrival, he was immediately blown away by the variety of existing plant species and took it upon himself to learn all he could about them. He spent a lot of time as a homesteader wandering around the hills of his property and surrounding counties learning what was out there, and what grew where. He began to experiment with propagation. Peter is widely recognized for his observations and knowledge of plants and forest ecology. The unique, often hard to find plant species he propagates are testament to his vast floral knowledge. The vendor walks he leads through the tables of potted plants for sale at native plant conferences are always much anticipated, and well-attended.
