Part sun; moist to medium rich soil; a vine of stream banks, thickets and moist wooded slopes growing 4’-10’; leatherflower has thick, leathery bell-shaped flowers of pink or purple color; in fall seed clusters with big feathery plumes are an added attraction; not invasive- use on a trellis, fence or the edge of woods; blooms May-July; zones 4-9; W. Va. ecotype.
