So far, I really like 2009. It has only been 2 days, but I think it beats out 2008 already. There is always so much i want to do differently in a new year..lists that I tend to make each year which tend to have the same items on them. I think that list is going to have to wait for a few days to settle in my head before the commitment to post them. Regardless, the fact remains, I love lists. Real Simple just put out an entire magazine devoted to lists. That was for me, I am sure.
Things that were great about 2008:
* I survived without physically or verbally assaulting a child, adult, or principal the most horrific teaching job known to man. I walked away with bumps and bruises that healed quickly and many funny stories for my memoir.
* Mid-June, July, and August. An incredible summer full of lazy days at the water-park, reading, crafting, writing, and tons of sunshine. Yoga in the park, adventures with my girlfriends, hiking, lunches, and plenty of naps. Traveling to NYC and back to Colorado to visit dear friends. It was one of my favorite summers by far.
* Getting hired as a middle school teacher, teaching my favorite subject, and meeting my new teammate who has become one of my closest friends.
I know, there are only 3! 2008 was rough year with an incredible summer sandwiched in between. I am hopeful that 2009 will be different: more grounded, less emotional, more stable, less tears, and more laughter. But this is only the beginning of that list...
