There is a PhD studentship available (approx 13,000
GBP/year) in the project “Random discrete structures,
spin glasses, and efficient algorithms” (funded by
EPSRC). Applicants should have a strong background in
either discrete math, algorithms, probability, or
statistical physics. If you’re interested, please contact

In 2007 I visited the Math department of Carnegie Mellon
University, Pittsburgh, as a Heisenberg fellow of the
German research foundation. Before that I was at Humboldt.
