Mariner

K12167 [Space Collection: Map] [US: Satellite: Mariner: Literature]
Mariner map of Mars.  Complete equatorial view between 70 degrees north and south with two partial hemispherical views of the Martian poles beginning at 60 degrees north or south latitude.  Scale 1:25,000,000.  The chart illustrates and outlines the best images of Mariner 6 and 7 probes close encounter fly-bys during 1969.  These images were then “visually developed and recreated using air brush shaded relief technique”.  Areas not covered with the fly-bys were air brushed based, in part, on Mariner far-encounter views from Mariners 4, 5, and 7.  U.S. Army Topographic Command, August 1970
