Troop 22
Troop 22
Boy scout Troop 22 was originally founded in 1931. The Troop is in the Blackhawk District of the Northwest Suburban Council of the Boy Scouts of America. We are located in Des Plaines, Illinois. Our chartering organization is Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, where we have our regular troop meetings. Some of our scouts are members of Saint Mary’s, but others are not associated with the church and may be of different faiths. All are welcome!
The Troop is active and will generally plan at least one activity per month. Most camp-outs are at Boy Scout camps and state parks in the area. Weekend camp-outs have included Starved Rock, Mississippi Palisades, Indiana Dunes, Camp Lakota, Camp Big Timber, Camp Dan Beard, Camp Oh-De-Ko-Ta, Rainbow Scout Reservation, Camp Hoover and Camp Napowan Other events included hiking, bike riding, Whirley ball and bowling.
Each Summer we go for one week to summer camp at Camp Napowan, which is about a three hour drive North in the State of Wisconsin. Some of our Scouts have also gone on high adventure backpack trips to Philmont, New Mexico.
Our scouts are also involved in several community service projects. We clear away any litter on a portion of a local road. We also assist various charitable organizations in our community. We also collect food for the local food pantry. Other projects involve conservation projects and projects that assist homeless or needy individuals. We also participate in patriotic services honoring the armed forces.
Come join us and discover the Scout experience!!
