Steel City Video offers a number of different editing packages to meet your needs. Of course, we offer editing to compliment our videography services, but we also are willing to edit videos recorded by you or a third party. Simply give us an idea of your vision and we will attempt to make it a reality. We can edit out awkward moments, bad shots, fix sound, add titles, sounds, music, photos, and much more. No matter the video's age, if we can play your recording back, we can work our magic.

In this package you will receive basic editing, which includes adding an introduction, music, and removal of large unwanted clips. General instructions will be taken into account to create a basic video for distribution that will be given to you on DVD. The cost of this service is $25/hour. For estimation purposes, a one hour video would require about 2-3 hours of editing time: one hour to import and another 1-2 hours to edit and export to DVD. Additional copies of the finished DVD can be made for $5 each; VHS copies for $15 each. This package is most suitable for lectures, small events, and home movies.

Package two is more suited for large-scale projects and relies heavily on client input during the editing process. In this package, we work side by side with the client to identify the project's direction. While package one approaches the project more abstractly, package two includes detailed outlining and logging of footage, working toward an end product for professional use. If your project includes more than 2-3 hours of footage, or if it will likely span more than one day, package two is geared toward you. The cost of importing tape and consultation is $25/hour, not including travel expenses, while editing is $50/hour. If you are planning a long-term project talk to us about possible discounts. Additional copies of the finished DVD can be made for $5 each; VHS copies for $15 each. This package is most suitable for educational, promotional, and professional videos.

We can accept footage recorded on the following formats: VHS, Hi-8, Digital8, MiniDV, and some computer formats (check with us). Music can be given to us on cassette, CD, vinyl, MP3 (and many other digital audio formats), or reel to reel tape (1/4" tape at 3 ¾ or 7 ½ IPS for ¼ track or 7 ½ or 15 IPS for ½ track. We cannot currently transfer ¼ track tapes larger than 7"). Copies can be provided on formats other than DVD and VHS, such as Digital8, MiniDV, or various computer formats at an additional cost (please talk to us).

If the format of your source tapes is not listed please contact us; a workaround may be possible, especially if you have playback equipment on hand for us to temporarily borrow. Though it has never happened, we are not responsible for any damage done to media while in our possession due to machine malfunctions or any other natural occurrences.
