Dr. Arthur Dugoni, Dean Emeritus at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry at the University of the Pacific was dean from 1978 to 2006 and is a former president of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Dental Schools. An orthodontist from San Francisco, he served as a director of the American Board of Orthodontics and as its president. He currently is the president of the ADA Foundation.
Dr. Dugoni graduated as class valedictorian from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1948. Since that time, he has been awarded the honor of Dental Alumnus of the Year by four universities: Gonzaga University, University Of Washington, University Of San Francisco and The University Of The Pacific. Dr. Dugoni has received multiple awards including the list of honor from the FDI, William John Gies Award from the American College of Dentists and two honorary degrees from the University of Louisville and Louisiana State University.
He has presented more than 900 lectures, papers, clinics and essays throughout his career and is the author of over 160 published articles. Dr. Dugoni and his wife, Katherine, have seven children and fifteen grandchildren.
