Remember that the “real time” of this blog is a day behind your “actual time” in the big land of White Bread. Monday is really Sunday and so on. This is Judy having her eyes checked for glasses. No, she did not buy this pair. Her husband Lawrence has been working everyday at the Love Of Arts Center here in Da Nang doing landscaping. Both Lawrence and Judy are from Vancouver, BC Canada. This is there third trip to Vietnam as a couple. On Saturday we went to visit the ancient city of Hue and on Sunday we visited the city of Hoi An. Both of these cities have ancient historical roots in Vietnamese culture and the Arts. The ladies tell that the shopping is well worth the trip.
On Monday Linda and Judy visited one of the local schools in Da Nang with gifts of school supplies provided by a school in Calgary, Alberta. The purpose of this visit was to establish a sister school between Calgary and Da Nang. The project was received with overwhelming enthusiasm by both schools and a bond has been struck between the two schools.
Here are the children of the Da Nang school getting ready to be presented with the gifts the school in Calgary prepared for them. Mrs Gina Woods, the school teacher in Calgary had her students prepare packages containing supplies, a personal letter telling about themselves, plus a personal picture. The students in Da nang will respond by sending personal letters and Vietnamese school supplies to their sister students in Calgary Alberta.
Our time in Vietnam has many dimensions to it and unfortunately time and bandwidth do not allow us to share it all with you, but hopefully you can catch a glimpse of what we are involved in and feel partners with us in this Vietnamese adventure.
