The                     Projects

The Ded Unkunpi (We are Here) Projects are about creating and using immersive media art (whether stationary or mobile) to enhance learning FROM Native people.

Ded Unkunpi began with the 2004-2005 multimedia installation, “Cloudy Waters; Dakota Reflections on the River.”  The power of a darkened room, water, evocative images, powerful audio and visitor choice provide an experience from which people can learn about Native ways of being. This kind of experience may make it easier to learn the facts and figures so often relied up to teach and learn about the indigenous people of North America.

Collaborations with Telling River Stories of the University of Minnesota and with the Minnesota Humanities Center enable further development of podcasts, webcasts,  web adaptations, and portable versions of Cloudy Waters and City Indians for use in classrooms, museums, galleries, and public spaces
