This sculpture is of Mark Hunter, 2008 Olympic Gold medalist. The sculpture is on display at Leander Club next to Henley bridge, the home of the GB rowing team. 40 elite athletes train there and past members have included Sir Steve Redgrave CBE and Sir Matthew Pinsent CBE.

The piece is striking for two reasons. Firstly, a figurative sculpture of a rower is highly unusual and, secondly, the high attention to detail on the text book position of “The Catch”. I wanted to get the pose as correct as possible and who better to get that information from but from someone who has rowed for his country and won Olympic Gold. I worked very closely with Mark, studying and consulting with him at various points in the process. I am delighted to say that Mark is delighted with the final result.
