Drum-roll, please....

I’ve never been a big fan of diaries or journals. Nothing has ever really happened in my life that was so profound that I felt the need to document the event for posterity. I usually start with this great idea--I will write a diary, and perhaps my grandchildren one day will want to see what the days of my life involved. Generally, after a few weeks, it becomes more of a chore than anything else and I stop doing it. I hope this will not be the case here.

In the last few days, I have found blogging to be kind of like the PTA. We all say we won’t do it, we all avoid it as long as we can, and ultimately the day comes where we find that we are the only ones that are not members, or in this case, bloggers. That said, I LOVE reading blogs. I feel like I get these tiny glimpses into the lives of other people, and with the diary-like quality of them, I feel like I’m almost snooping.

So, without further ado, let’s do a brief introduction. I have been married for 10 years and we have two little girls (hence the oh-so-creative name of my blog which ties my family and hobby together into one clever title). We live in Utah and have enjoyed it in spite of many adjustments that have been made along the way. We’ve been here since June of 2006 and I stand by my opinion I’ve always held--snow is beautiful. From inside. With hot cocoa. And the thermostat set at 73 degrees.

I love knitting. This was actually the catalyst that launched me into diary-writing in the 21st century. For months, I made fun of my mom for knitting socks, and recently I have started doing it myself. Lesson learned folks--if you’re going to make fun of someone for something they enjoy, make sure it won’t ever be something you will enjoy later. Sigh, I’m a card-holding member of the PTA as well.

I have read other sock-knitting blogs (boy, you sure have to watch the typing on that!) and have noticed that while I enjoy reading all of them, there is almost always one thing missing. This one thing changes from day-to-day depending on what information I seek, but it’s always there. I hope to make my blog kind of an amalgam of all of the blogs I frequent--the things I love about them and the information I find to be missing. I’m hoping that my entry tomorrow will be helpful to others, not just myself.

Well, the main thing I love about blogs is the blurb-quality of the entries. Nothing too long, nothing too detailed. With that, I tip my hat and bid you adieu, but only for this evening. I sense a habit forming.
